December S. W. J. Young, the popular and efficient local trainer of:Escoba, Midway, Bulse. Mniiager Mack and other good horses, has signed a three years contract with John Sanford of Amsterdam, X. Y.. and on .Tannary 1, will assume his duty as trainer of the Hurricana Stud racers. Mr. Young returned from the east today and is informing his former patrons of his employment and requesting that they make arrangements with others to train their horses. It was expected that Young would point K. D. Alexanders Escoba for the Kentucky Derby. This winner of the Breeders Futurity is at John P. Morris Bosque Bonita Farm and Mr. Gerry will decide upon a trainer for him, bis owner now being at the fighting front in Italy. The Sanford stable will not be divided, but will have two trainers as heretofore, Preston Burch training half and Young the other half. The horses are now at Charleston. S. C. where they will winter and about May 1 will be shipned north. George Miller has been employed by Hon. Johnson X. Camden to take charge of his stallions Light Brigade. Ben Brush and Peter Quince, together i with his mares and their produce and to supervise the breeding of horses at the Hartland ! Stud, whither lie will go next Wednesday. Miller is one of the best young men in his line of busi , ness in this cnuntrv. He is a Californium and came to Kentucky in the employ of the late James P.. Haggiu. Since Haggius death. In; hns been in j Charles IT. Berrymans employ and, lately, has been looking after the breeding stock of Harry Pnvne Whitney, on bis farm near Lexington. j. .7. Leonard arrived here front Portland; Malim. last night with II. J. Browns French-bred stallion Patoud. which is to stand the coming season at Graceland Farm, under the supervision of John Wilson Townsend. George A. Bain will leave here Tuesday for Xew York to make tin. sale of the S. L. Parsons estate and the Oscar Lewisohn estate thorouchbreds at Din-lands Friday evening. J. O. Keene will attend the sale. President S. II. Berryuian today appointed Messrs. G. II. Keene. W. J. Press and L. J. Carey an executive committee to look after the associations welfare at Xew Orleans and Hot Springs race meetings.
