CURRENT NOTES OF THE TURF Dr. Hartkill. a well known veterinarian and turfman of Louisville, who ,s in New Orleans to spend the winter, is a sick man and his physician has ordered him to Arizona. Dr. Harthill has been connected with racing for many years. Eddie Delling. prominent on the turf, received a telegram from John W. Schorr, millionaire brewer of Memphis, saying the Schorr stable would reach Jefferson Park track December 15. In the string are Harry Kelly, Butterscotch II., Jay Bird and ten others. Willie Martin, regarded at one time as one of the best riders on the turf, has a couple of horses In training at New Orleans. Martin rodo for Eugene Leigh and Pat Duuue. when those two horsemen were foremost among the winning owners on the turf. Gene Lutz is one of tho late arrivals at Jefferson Parish track. Ho brought with him his lightweight jockey H. Ericksou. Thia lad has shown much improvement since ho rode in New Orleans last year and his services were much in demand last spring, summer and fall. Two large motor vans which will be used to transport horses from the old Fair Grounds to the now track and vice versa have arrived at the Jefferson Parish track. Many of the owners prefer to walk their horses over, but the vans will not lay idlo, as a majority of owners will use them.
