i- to to h ie of , 3J 51 ! ,u 3s i- of it in CHEER LEADER SMALL BUT SPEEDY Jockey Eddie Martin is riding at Jefferson Park for Charley Hawk, who trains the horses of Hardin Field and Milo Shields, and he is not accepting any outside mounts. Hawk has the good horse Cheer Leader in his stable, and under Martins handling and Hawks training, he is a wonderfully improved thoroughbred. Martin knew something about Cheer Leaders ability, as he rode him when Maj T. C. McDowell owned him and he seems to be able to get more out of him than anybody else. Cheer Leader was the first horse of the meeting to win three races, and he also had the distinction of- runniug the fastest mile of the meeting. He is by Ogden Belle of Ashland, and was bred by Major McDowtll. He is a horse of small stature, but has plenty of speed and is thoroughly game.
