Bedwell fared well in the racing of 1917, but by no means as well as in 1910, when, by the combined results of the speed of a host of selling platers, he ended his campaign in the proud position of leading owner of the year. It is probable his name will figure but little, if at all, in the returns of 1918, he having sold most of his horses and accepted an engagement to train for a wealthy owner, whose stable now includes such a star of racing as the fleet and high-class Broomstick colt, Cudgel, with which he may work wonders.
