CURRENT NOTES OF THE TURF The final time of Rice 36S27 should read 1:15, instead of 1:15, as printed. W. Woodward is a recent arrival in New Orleans. He came frorii Kentucky and brought with him Opportunity, Dickie W., and Wince. Jockey Hoag also accompanied the shipment. Billy Oliver is in New Orleans, to look after the racing stable he has quartered at the Fair Grounds. He arrived from his Lakewood home and will take active command of his racing interests. Word comes from the Bowie track, that Stable "A," which houses the horses of W. R. Mizell, was among the stables destroyed in the recent fire. Trainer G. C. Milton succeeded in getting all his charges out without injury to them. On account of the shortage of stable room at both the Fair Grounds and Jefferson Park, New Orleans racing officials are iiermitting owners to occupy quarters outside the race courses. This is a departure from previous rules and is necessitated because of the large number of horses on hand. E. Arlington, who has been Campaigning ii small stable at Jefferson Park, is one of the recent arrivals in New Orleans. He expects to remain for the Fair Grounds meeting. Arlington was formerly in the circus business, but retired when he sold out his Wild West show to Jess Willard, heavyweight champion.
