i PREAKNESS TO BE DECIDED MAY 15 Running of Pimlico Feature Not to Conflict with Historic Kentucky Derby. New York. April 10. — It was learned here today that the Maryland Jockey Club has decided la run the Preakness Stakes, tlie big three year-old feature of the Iimlico spring program, on Wednesday. May 15. four days after the decision of the Kentucky Derby at Iyiuisville. This was done to enable horsemen, who have entries iu Imth the Derby and Preakness. to start in lioth races. The lapse lietween the two dates will enable starters in the Derby to ship to Baltimore and run iu lioth races if transportation facilities arc any-1 thing like normal. There are about 140 entries in the Preakness. including every three-year-old of prominence, excepting Tippity Witchet. Judge Fitz Gerald arrived from Havana on Mon day and leaves for Havre de Grace on Monday next ti» "officiate as steward. In speaking of the three-year-old Orestes Judge Fita Gerald said the colt had developed into a good colt and that he will not do more than he is made to do. but can run a quarter of a mile in 23 seconds at any time if he has to do it and is capable of going any distance. Trainer Jerry Carroll shipped twelve horses from Belmont Park to Pimlico today, including the stoeph-chasers belonging to W. B. Coe aud a few to run on the flat. Morton L. Schwartz big band of flat horses ami jumpers also left for I.altimore today in charge of John Hastings and .1. W. May. Captain Parr has applied to the Jim key Club to change the name of the horse Doctor Muck to Colonel Balautiue.
