SAN FORD HORSES EXPECTED TODAY Look for Remainder of String to Reach Jamaica from Charleston — All in Good Condition. New York. April 10. — The final carload of horses belonging to John Sanford is expected to arrive from Charleston tomorrow. Two carloads landed here last week and were taken direct to Jamaica, at which track the Sanford colors will be first seen. "Mr. Sanford rarely shows any horses until the season is pretty well advanced." said Preston Burch. who has charge of the stables details, and at the same time training one-half of thirty-two horses in the string. W J. Young looking after the other half. "I have been asked why Tippity Witchet was not entered for the Preakness," continued Mr. Bureh. "It was because Mr. Sanford did not wish to start the horse until around June, though he may be seen in a race or two at Jamaica, as he is in good condition. "Tippity Witchet had quite a strenuous campaign last year and raced until late in November. This is another reason why Mr. Sanford wished him to have a good, long wiiiter and spring vacation. "All the horses have done well and indications point to Mr. Sanford having a fine band of useful two-year-olds, as well as older horses. "After the accident to George Walls it left a vacancy in the jockev line and W. Kelsay has t een engaged to ride. He is on probation, as it were, and if he makes good ],e will be permanently engaged. "The entire stable is pretty well forward and healthy. I thought maybe by having our stable well advanced I might catch some of my neighlior-ing trainers a little short of work, but from what I can learn I llljasdj will he ready for the opening of the New York season at Jamaica. There will he any amount of good horses out this year in all divisions, indicating a successful season. In fact, from a spectacular standpoint the prospects are exceedingly bright for exciting s|H rt."
