i i , i i i i i i m HODGE WILL NOT RACE THIS YEAR Kay Spences Good Handicap Horse Has Not Fully Recovered from Injury of Last Tear. Louisville. Ky., April 11. — The horses that Kay Siience brought to Churchill Downs include the fast three-year-old Rafferty. Alert. Money Maker. Kildare Boy, Count Boris. Rochester. Gainer aud Redlita Y. The following were sent on to Lexiugton: High tiear. Kale. Grasmere. Margaret K. and Shoddy. The last-named is to be turned out at J. T. Irelands farm. Bigtodo was detained at Key West, owing to some error in his return export papers. Spence has decided not to take up Hodge and Rod Cloud, which have been turned out since last fall. Hodge sustained some injury in his last race and has not entirely recovered from the mishap. This good horse has been the stables mainstay for sev- cral years past. He finished second to Old Rosebud in the 1914 Kentucky Derby and won the Clark Handicap the two following years. He has also won numerous handicaps aud overnight purses. Joe Imensetter has brought from Havana the veteran Grover Hughes, which has figured in many a hard contest on the Kentucky and other tracks His owner believes he will stand training and will attempt to get him ready for the latter part of the spring season. Other horses brought here by Imensetter were J. J. Murdock. the star of the stable, which made an enviable record at Havana bv winning eight races, representing a total money value of §5.280: King Trovato. Billy Joe, Old Mis* and Trappoid. The latter will not be seen under colors this year, as her owner intends sending her to T. M. Murphys farm to be bred to Golden Maxim. L. H. Dickinson is another late arrival from Havana. The only horses he returned with were UaMt Post and Olga Star. Al Luaader has reached here from Hot Springs. bringing five horses, the joint projierty of himself and O. Johnson, a prominent business man of Car- rui hersvi lie. Mo. The horses include Parrish, Reno. Tillotson. Dancer and H. C. Batten.
