» e. b. mcleans promising stable Trainer Schorr Has Three Preakness Candidates and Fine Band of Juveniles at Pimlico. Baltimore. Md.. April M. — W. J. OBrien, the Jockey who rode Wcsty Ilogan to his astonishing victory over his brilliant stable companion, Omar Khayyam, in the Bowie Cup at Pimlico last fall, has signed with the stable of K. B. Mcl,ean for the current season. OBrien is in tip-top condition. He should do well with the McLean stable, which is strong in every department. Schorr was one of the first trainers of an establishment of considerable size to conic to Pimlico and his horses are all doing famously. Kathleen, a brilliant sprinter in Kentucky last year, is showing great BWMd. Japlnt. Kewoie ONeil and Rubber II. are the McLean candidates for the Preakness. aud .laphet. a son of Loveth — Maidie. looks like a good horse. He is a bay of good size and iierfect balance and has a fine turn of speed, which he maintains well. Bubber II. is a brown colt by Yankee — Caoutchouc, which only started once last year, but was credited with some fast work. Kewpie ONeil was purchased from H. Bozier Dulany. al Virginia, at Saratoga last summer. These three-year-olds re training well and they will Ik- ready for the races MM time in the course of the first week of the Maryland Jockey Cluhs spring meeting. The fUUetm two-year-olds are making a fine impression at Pimlico. A liberal buyer at the yearling sales of 1917. Mr. McLean is the most generous nf eastern nominators in the Spring Juvenile. The Six Hundred, a strongly made and active son of Light Brigade, catches the eye of the work watchers oftcner than any of the other youngsters. His legs are well under him. his back is short and he can go a quarter in flMfct or therealmuts. almost any morning when the going is good. Mint Cat and Bank Note, bay sons of Catmint and Jrecnback. anil both English -bred, look like early winners, and the foreign - bred fillies. Agnes Jr.. Sunstep and Candle Light, which claim for sires Junior. Sunstar ai.d Light Brigade, promise well. There are two other fillies in the establishment. Bon Jour and Trom-peuse. daughters of Von Tromp. Mr. McLean is a buyer of fillies because it is his int.-ntion to breed horses on a considerable scale. He is now the owner of the brilliant Colin and he purposes giving that of Commando Pastorella first unbeaten son — a -rate .opportunity. McLean bought Colin in Kentucky last winter at the dispersal sale of the Wickliffe Stud, and Colin is making the current season as a public horse. a
