May S. — It looks now as though Harry Payne Whitney must deiM-nd n:i the veteran Borrow. and the badly under-pinned Rickety for n-pre s.-ntation in the handicaps and long distance races to aa run alnuir New York later in the y--ar. Albert Simons has tried Ix.th Tumbler and B.-llringer. the four-year olds James Bowe sent to Maryland in high haaa some three weeks back, and neither has shown anything worth while. Tumbler, notwithstanding he claims that good long distance running mare Klip Flap for dam. seems to Ik- nothing more than a sprinter and he does not appear to la- partial to weight. The only thing that can be said in his favor is that he is running more kindly this spring than h" ever did Is-fore. Beliringer. a Baa of Burgomaster — Vespers, which leaked mighty good a couple of years back, is Training light. He frets like a nervous mare, lb- has lost all of fifty pounds since he went to Maryland.
