THOROUGHBRED RACING AT THE FAIRS Many Opportunities Afforded Horsemen to Keep Their Horses Busy Burin the Summer SummerMany Many opportunities arc afforded horsemen of the middle ivest to keep their horses busy at the fair meetings in Iowa Missouri Kansas and Kentucky during summer and fall The Big Eight Racing Circuit in Iowa has discarded light harness racing and this year for the first time will conduct run ¬ ning races There are six towns in this circuit including Carroll Harlan Avoca Atlantic Audn lion and Guthrie Center There will be two days of racing in each town with six races daily and it is estimated that the purse distribution on the whole circuit will reach the goodly total of 8000 The racing will begin at Carroll on August 13 13Tiltre Tiltre will be ten running races at the Illinois Centennial State Fair and Industrial Exhibition at Springfield August 19 to 23 The purses will lc 100 each eachThe The Kansas and Oklahoma circuit of fairs will afford occupation for a number of runners Begin ¬ ning at Council Grove Kansas August 5 and clos ¬ ing at Wichita Kansas October 5 there will be two or more running races each day The circuit embraces the towns of Council Grove Channte Krcdonia Eureka lola Topcka Ilutchinson Wichi ¬ ta Kansas and Oklahoma City Oklahoma OklahomaThe The Southwest Iowa and Missouri Circuit will conduct races at the following places Crouing Iowa four days Bedford five days Malvern five days Shcimndoah five days Clariuda five days and five days each at Maitland Savannah and Bethany Mo On the Southwest Missouri Circuit five days racing will be held at Cape Girardeau Sikeston Popular Bluff Kenuett and Caruthers ville
