FLOOD CAUSES NO RACING Inundation Forces Abandonment of Jefferson Parks Card New Entries for Today Taken and andthe the Sport Expected to Proceed Minks Case Is Reopened NBW ORLEANS la December 20 The violent storm throughout last night inundated a large sec ¬ tion of the country in these parts and caused it to take on a flooded appearance The Jefferson track and its vicinity were considerable sufferers and it forced a cessation of the racing fer the day Ad ¬ jacent to the track a huge area resembled a lake The track too was a quagmire and the stable ground was inundated The water had in some instances readied the stables so as to make them untenantable and numerous horses had to be removed to higher ground Not alone was the flooded area confined to the Jefferson track for the Fair Grounds was also a sufferer but not to the extent thit the new race traik was wasIt It has been over twenty years since racing had to b i ostponed in these parts because of weather con ¬ ditions A snowstorm once put the Fair Grounds racing under temporary suspension but it was re ¬ sumed after one days layoff It is expected that conditions will again be normal tomorrow and that the iacing will continue continueA A new card was substituted for the program of today The military race which was to have been an extra feature fcr Saturday had to be called off on account of the lack of entries received to it Tiia purse of 500 which was to have bsen added to it was to have gone to the Red Cross CrossSeveral Several of the stables now at Jefferson Park TTTjra traasfefred early this morning to the Fair Grounds Among those moved were the horses owned by J O Talbott and J B Goodman GoodmanJudge Judge Murphy this morning reopened the case of jockey L Mink suspended for the remainder of the meeting for rough riding The rider explained his side and the cause of it It is probable that the ruling against him will be modified modifiedMrs Mrs Herman Conkling wife of Judge Herman Coupling departed hurriedly for Morristown N J this morning unon receipt of news of the serious illness of her son who is said to be in a critical condition conditionThe The final program book of the Jefferson Park racing was distributed to owners this morning by Secretary J B Campbell The initial program book for the Fair Grounds racing will be dis ¬ tributed to owners liera tomorrow
