PLENTY OF MONTANA SALMON Anglers at Kalispel, Mont, are having good sport catching king salmon, otherwise known as chinook or quinnat salmon. About two years ago some 600,000 eyed eggs of the chinook salmon were planted in various lakes in that section of Montana. The fish were hatched at the state hatchery at Somcrs, and from there were distributed for planting in the lakes. Anglers have been successful In landing them in goodly numbers in several of these lakes, notably in Flathead, Ronan. Rogers, Foy and Hitter Root lakes. The fish from this planting now range from two to four pounds in weight. The fish in its native waters has been known to attain to a weight of one hundred pounds, but those captured In the Columbia River average about twenty pounds. It is estimated that if one-third the number planted survive it will make at least 500,000 pounds of this variety of fish available.
