PIMLICO TO APPLY FOR USUAL DATES XEW YORK, X. Y., January 9. "William P. Riggs. secretary of the Maryland Jockey Club, lias applied to the Jockey Club for the usual Pimlico spring racing dates from May 1 to 17. It is prolicide that the Preakness, worth 5,000. will be run on Mav 14. four days later than the Kentucky Derbv, which will 1m- decided May 10. The Pimlico Oaks", for fillies, valued at ,000, is scheduled to be run May 17. Not until next month will the annual meeting of the Hunts Committee be held, according to Frank J. Bryan. A program of exceeding interest to the amateur ranks of racing will le laid for the committees consideration for the season of 1919. Harvey Williams, the steeplechase rider, died recently from influenza. There is much .sickness at Belmont Park. Three of the help of John Sanfords stable have died, also three of the Fitzsimmons employes. A number of others are suffering from influenza. No sickness is reported among the horses. Thomas J. Healey, trainer for R. T. Wilson, has been laid up for some time witli influenza, but is now convalescent, though not yet able to resume his training duties. . The final count of entries for the 1921 Futurity is !I2S. which is thirty-one less than the nominations for 1920. The annual meeting of the National Steeplechase and Hunt Association was held at its office, 18 East Forty-first -street, today. The only business was the election of officers for 1919, which remain the same as in 1918. At .the annual meeting of the Saratoga Racing Association the same directors were elected as held office last year. .Major Morton L. Schwartz, who recently returned from France, lias been mustered out of service, and. attended the meeting of the National Steeplechase and Hunt Association. A. J. Joyner visited the city today. He reports all the horses in winter quarters doing fine.
