GETTING READY FOR LEXINGTON RACES LEXIXGTOX Ky April 9 The Kentucky As ¬ sociations mile track was closed today because of yesterdays rain and such exercise as was given the horses was over the sand track Accordingly there was nothing out of the ordinary in the moves of the horses Superintendent Ross stated that if the weather continued warm and windy the track would he available tomorrow tomorrowThe The winter boards which have protected the grandstand were removed today and a corps of cleaners will be put to work at once to get the grounds in order for the opening two weeks hence The erection of the new bandstand was completed today and the announcement was made that the Webers band of Cincinnati has been reengaged for the meeting meetingMr Mr and Mrs Walter M Jeffords of Glen Riddle Pa were among todays arrivals arrivalsFrederick Frederick Johnson of Xew York has within the last few days purchased two brood mares from Hal Price Headley He bought Mollie Kearney by Sir Dixon Sappho and from J L Knight Lida Flush half sister to Claude by Royal Flush III Lida II Hal Price Headley said today that since he has seen the suckling colt by Lltimus Crazy Quilt which Frederick Johnson bought from him last week he would gladly give back the 2500 he re ¬ ceived for him He is one of the best looking foals I ever saw He is wonderfully like Ultimus and will barring accidents develop into a great horse
