GOOD PLATERS FOR KENTUCKY RACING Grey Eagle Drastic and Kewpie ONeil Expected to Play Prominent Part in Claiming Races HOT SPRINGS Ark April 15 Frank Gering Jr has nominated liis recent acquisition Grey Eagle in several stakes on the Kentucky circuit this spring chiefly selling events The gray horse has shown a lot of speed here this spring considering the fact that he has been given several hard races close to one another He is a true running horse always doing his best and lie can either go to the front or come from behind He should be formidable in claiming handicaps in Kentucky this spring es ¬ pecially those run over a considerable route of ground Grey Eagle came here with the reputation of being only a fair selling plater and when lie was claimed by Gering lie was running for 400 He surprised folks in his next start by lieating a good band of horses and since then he has been run ¬ ning with tliis same kind and always making n creditable showing showingC C K Patterson will have two strong cards in play in the better grade of claiming races and a few selling stakes in Kentucky in Drastic and Kewpie ONeil both of which will be shipped to Lexington from here The former is especially good right now and is capable of taking the measur of fair horses He has an abundance of early speed and can open up a big gap on his opponents and tht farther he goes the better He lias won several races here and has not been run enough to hurt him himDrastic Drastic won a selling stake at Lntonia last fall He is an uncertain sort of a horse being inclined to sulk at times but possessed of plenty of speed The first part of a raw usually finds him fur back but if he docs not sulk lie runs home fast and It takes a good horse to withstand him Rushing him too fast for the first part of a race is thought to be responsible for his attitude when hi refuses to do liis best but when allowed to go at his owji gait in the early racing he appears desirous of running his fastest at the end
