W S KILMER HORSES AT LOUISVILLE Exterminator and Stablemates Arrive at Churchill Downs from Hot Springs LOUISVILLE Ky April 15 The stable of Wil ¬ lis Sharpe Kilmer in charge of that capable trainer Henry McDaniel readied Churchill Downs yesterday after an uneventful trip from Hot Springs The ten horses comprising the shipment arrived in splendid condition and gave ample evidence of being fit and ready to race Exterminator winner of last years Kentucky Derby and Mormon the stables candidate for the 1919 running of the same nice were the principal ones in the consignment Most of the others are twoyearolds twoyearoldsTrainer Trainer McDaniel stated on his arrival that Exterminator was never in better condition and he expects the big son of McGce and Fair Empress to be the stables main reliance this year the same as lie was1 last when in addition to winning the Kentucky Derby be scored in the Carrollton Handi ¬ cap Ellicott Handicap and the Latonia Cup At Hot Springs he started in two races and won both of them witli big weight up Mr McDaniel said it was liis intention to point Exterminator for the Kentucky Handicap that will be decided at Churchill Downs this spring and that in all probability he would send him to Lexington to give him a race or two to put him in liis best trim trimMormon Mormon the Ogden Rose of Gold colt that Mr McDaniel is preparing for his engagement in the Kentucky Derby made a favorable impression among local horsemen upon his arrival but many of the sharps are dubious whether the colt will measure up to the standard of some of the more prominent of the eligibles They are satisfied how ¬ ever that Mormon is a good looker and inasmuch as his trainer holds him in high esteem the colt must be possessed of some of the qualities that go to make up a highclass racer Mormon started in two races at Hot Springs He won the first time but was disgracefully beaten the next time on a track that was heavy and probably not to his liking Mr McDaniel stated that Mormon is going along with his training in a manner that is pleas ¬ ing and if he continues to train soundly there is no reason he says why he should not be given consideration when the prospective winner is being figured out
