NAT DORTCH LOSES CONSCRIPTION LOUISVILLE Ky April 17 All of the Kay Siience horses which arrived here from Havana Cuba reached Douglas Park in good condition with the exception of Rafferty which is suffering from catarrlial fever and slight hopes are entertained for his recovery The recoveryThe mares Conowingo Beauty Shop and Senti ¬ mental were also in the Spence consignment Thev wore later forwarded to the j u Respess Highland Stock Farm where they will be bred Blondel and Hemlock the property of Geo J Long also arrived with the Spence shipment and were turned over to trainer Pete Coyne The stable suffered o e cas ¬ ualty en route Conscription a threeyearold filly by Sweeper Census which Spence raced for Nat Dortch of this city was stricken with pneumonia en route and died at Stevenson Ala Conscription won two races at Havana and her owner had en ¬ tered her in the Kentucky Oaks OaksThree Three other horses that Spence had raced in Havana namely Foster Enibry Saseuta and Miss Burgomaster were forwarded to Lexington Sasenta the property of T P Hayes raced well in Cuba winning six consecutive rates Spence did not bring all of hi horses back to Kentucky Xims of them were left at Oriental Park in charge of Tex Brosiur who will keep them there and have them ready to resume racing next winter The list includes Walter Mack Solid Rock Miss Ivan Terrible Miss Froglegs oie Uuar Elga and Shlro Spence has received several offers for the contract lie holds on jockey Murray all of which lie lias refused N offer below 15000 will he con ¬ sidered He has another likely riding prospect iu Leslie Woods an eighteenyearold boy hailing from Brooklyn N Y whom he secured at Churchill Downs last summer and who can ride at eightyfive pounds
