WEATHER STOPS LEXINGTON TRAINING XEXINGTON Ky April 17 The weather and track conditions here today were not conducive to good work on the part of the horses in training at the Kentucky Association track and none were particularly attractive to tho vcorK watchers Jt was cold and raw and in tlie afternoon there was a flurry of snow Tlie track however is drying out and the harrows were put on it late in the afternoon afternoonPat Pat Dunne owner of Under Fire arrived in Lex iugton this morning after spending yesterday in Louisville His Derby colt is on the way to Lexr ington in a special train of horse cars which left Hot Springs Wednesday night Jockey W Morrissey who rode in Cuba the past winter arrived today from Havana HavanaRacing Racing secretary William H Shelley began today writing the race conditions for the first eigljt days of the meeting at Churchill Downs The size of the purses for Louisville have not as yet been determined upon Col3Iatt J Winns proposal that there be n minimum of 1000 is meeting with no objection but the horsemen are anxious that the maximum be Jiigh enough to bring the average of tlie purses to approximate the recommendations of the com ¬ mittee appointed bv chairman Camden of the State Racing Commission last winter to rejwrt upon that matter Trainer Charles H Hughes came over from Louis ¬ ville Wednesday night and spent the morning at the track returning to Louisville this afternoon afternoonTlie Tlie latest foal at Major August Belmonts Nur ¬ sery Stud is a brother to Man o War the two yearold chestnut colt by Fair Play Maliubah for which Samuel D Riddle paid 5000 last August
