IMPROVEMENTS AT EMPIRE CITY TRACK NEAA YOUK N Y May 10 James Butler has decided upon vast improvements for iue Empire City track at Yonkers before tho July meeting and already the work has been begun at the course on the hill An important feature of the improvements will be tho enlargement and extension cf the porches n three sides of the clubhouse so that the H rca ccoinmodations will be nearly tripled in size V Along VAlong the southerly side continuous stepping vill be built extending over a distance pf i00 feet t enable spectators to have an unobstructed view ver the heads of those immediately before them Along the entire front of these steps n cement walk will be laid so that in inclement weather the races can be viewed from the lawn level with ¬ out stepping on the grass lawn lawnTin Tin balconies accommodating the ladies will bf increased on throe sides of the building and will be extended to the east so as to have a direct communication boxesThe with the grandstand boxes The roofs of the porches and balconies will bo designed so that there will be an ornate overhang ¬ ing hood to shade the spectators and thus obviate the necessity of awnings
