LAUD TURF SUCCESS OF J K L ROSS At a recent meeting of the board of directors of the Connaught Jockey Club in Ottawa a resolution was passed congratulating Commander J K L Ross on his turf successes during the present season Discussing the resolution Commander Ross expressed his appreciation and declared that while he would continue to race a strong stable in this country he also would take an active part in Canadian racing when the sport is resumed there Commander Ross was notified of the action of the Connaught Jockey Club directors in the following communication Ottawa May 14 1919 Commander J K L Ross Montreal Quc QucDear Dear Commander Ross At a meeting of the board of directors of the Connaught Park Jockey Club held yesterday a resolution was passed ex ¬ pressing the congratulations of the board and the club in general to you on your success in winning the DerbyThe Kentucky Derby The directors wore unanimous in voicing the senti ¬ ment that your splendid achievement in bringing to Canada first and second honors in the historical southern turf classic was one worthy of the highest appreciation appreciationThey They shared also the feeling that it would prove an immense Iwon to the sport of kings in Canada particularly at a time when it is necessary to em ¬ phasize the possibilities now within reach of true Canadian sportsmen and I was instructed to write you expressing the heartiest congratulations and wishing you every success throughout the coming season both in Canada and the United States Very StatesVery truly yours Signed yoursSigned T P Carman Secretary
