ANOTHER FOR UNDER FIRE Dunnes Game Colt Defeats Sil ¬ very Light Quite Easily Much Interest in the Decision of the Rich Kentucky Handi ¬ cap This Afternoon LOUISVILLE Ky May 23 Pat Dunnes Under Fin added another bracket to his many scored this spring Incidentally it marked his third straight victory at this track since his start in the Kentucky Derby in which lie finished third His opposition this afternoon was not so formidable as that which marked the occasions on which he vanquished Exterminator and Beaverkill respectively but he took up his 115 pounds and won in gallant style from Silvery Light The race was practically over when Garner allowed him to run freely and it only required a sprint at top speed for about i quarter of a mile for the Dunne representative to turn the trick Garner kept him hard held for tin first half of the race allowing Ginger and Silvery Light to make the pace and wligp Silvery Light had disposed of Ginger Garner called on Under Fire But the brush between Silvery Light and Under Fire was shortlived and Under Fire once in the lead only had to canter to the finish finishImproved Improved weather was followed by an increased patronage at Churchill Downs this afternoon though there was nothing particularly out of the ordinary to serve as a feature Track conditions were again severe and racers of a sturdy constitution were given the call In some of the dashes a liberal sprinkling of fair class horses was noted notedThe The racing was formful most of the winners coining supportedDiscussion from tho ranks oniiose best supported Discussion began in auspicious fashion for th form backers when she won in easy style and Prospector had an extensive following the Havana contingent being particularly sweet on his chances chancesJAGO JAGO FAILS BACKERS BACKERSJago Jago was helped by the going butthe gave his backers considerable concern when lie swerved ail over the track then succeeded in lasting long enough to outstay Mormon which under a good ride showed vastly improved form over that when Garner rode him in his last race raceStarview Starview which showed a good performance ii her start on a muddy track al Lexington took a good band of fillies into camp in the fourth race Mysterious Girl beating the others There was an unwarranted long price against the winner here hereBasilius Basilius made a runaway of the fifth raw which he won as his rider elected from Sands of Pleasure PleasureThe The rich Kentucky Handicap which will hav its decision tomorrow is attracting considerable interest and the Churchill Downs management is planning elaborately for the entertainment of a big crowd There are nine carded to start in the handicap and at least eight will go to the post Opinion as to the probable winner is well divided with Midway Royce Rools Exterminator Cudgel and The Porter all having many enthusiastic suporters Jockov Sande and Buxton who will have the mounts on Cudgel and Roycc Rools respectively arrived during the afternoon If the present high wind continues and the sun gets in its work the course will bo iti fairly good condition for the running of the race raceImmediately Immediately after the race Exterminator and Royce Rools will be shipped east eastJockey Jockey Lunsford and his father had a narrow escape from injury this morning when their auto ¬ mobile skidded into a monument and was nigh wrecked The rider got off with a shaking up but Lunsford senior suffered severe cuts about the face and had a rib broken
