IMMENSE BLACKFISH IN ATLANTIC William Walsh of the Division of tho Naval Reserve stationed at Nantueket rode astride of a stranded blackfisii This gives an idea of the size and appearance of the fisli which in 1918 visited Nanlucket for tins first time in fortyfour years Two schools of the fish have so far been stranded on the north shore of tho island the first in early July and the second In Septemlwr SeptemlwrThe The second school was the largqr being made up of about seventyfive fish while the first counted up fiftysix The heaviest of the first weighed over 3000 pounds The fish were not dead but merely stranded Walsh pot it into deep water and took a ride upouit sonic quarter of u mile or more out to sea
