PROSPECTS FOR CANADIAN RACING Still a Doubt About Interpretation of Peace Terms and Sport CINCINNATI O June 23 Gco M Hendric president of the Windsor Jockey Club who has been here for some time witnessing the racing has not given up hope for a resumption of racing on the big Dominion tracks this year In his esti ¬ mation the resumption of racing hinges chiefly on how soon peace will become a certainty and the old prewar conditions resumed in Canada There is a difference between the signing of a peace and a proclamation of peace said Mr Hendrie The signing of peace by Germany and the allies still leaves Austria Turkey and Bulgaria to be dealt with but Germanys signature marks the beginning and may serve to automatically revoke the order in council which suspended racing for the period of the war and six months after afterRacing Racing could be resumed quite quickly in Can ¬ ada according to Mr Hendrie for all the tracks are in excellent order and have been kept up for an emergency If permission to resume racing is granted Fort Erie or Windsor will be the opening points with Fort Erie the most probable on ac ¬ count of its closer proximity to where most horses are located unless the Canadian opening should occur in the immediate future then Windsor will bo the inaugural point as it coulfl draw heavily from Latonia Less than ten days notice would IKS all that is necessary to bring to Windsor the needed horses and jockeys to hold a successful seven days meeting to start Canadian racing If racing is resumed in Canada this season there will be no meeting of longer than seven days dura ¬ tion at any of the big tracks That is certain
