MR PEABODYS RACING INTERESTS Francis S Peabody president of the Peabody Coal Company of Chicago like so many rich men who havtt Ipngjbeqn identified with other branches of sport is becoming interested in racing and has been acquiring quietly a few good thoroughbreds Mr Peabody is the master of Mays Lake Farm comprising a thousand acres at Hinsdale 111 and has one of the finest show stables in America es ¬ pecially hunters and jumpers His splendid horses treatJU apt andR jdUeart won most of the honors in jumping at the South Shore Country Club and also at the Madison Square Garden He has a tre mendpus stable with sixty stalls connected with a practice arena large enough to hold a horse show In fact weekends many an impromptu horse show is staged for the benefit of visitor lie is eh gaged at present in building a polo field on a por ¬ tion of liis large estate where various polo teams of the neighborhood will hold Saturday and Sunday matches matchesIt It is to he hoped that Mr Peabodys interest in racing will increase and that lie will become a valuable addition to the many other notables of this country who have supported the king of sports Thoroughbred Record
