ANCESTRY OF A TRIPLE CROWN WINNER WINNERBreeding Breeding That Resulted in Giving Lady James Douglas the Champion Colt of last Year In England this year The Panther won the Two Thousand Guineas Grand Parade the Ensom Derby and as things are going over there it is quite on the cards that some other colt or mayhap a filly will win the Doncaster St Leger next September Last vear and the year before no sucli state of confusion existed there In 1917 Gay Crusader was the outstanding champion of the threeyearolds and in 1918 Gainsborough was as definitely superior to all of his ccmnetitors Gay Crusader has been retired to stud life but Gainsborough is in train ins and it is expected that he will be raced a few times before this years campaign comes to an end Both of these fine young horses are Triple Crown winners each having won the Two Thousand Guineas Derby and September Stakes the latter being the wartime substitute for the St Leger Tlie pedigree of Gainsborough reads
