ONE OF LORD G LAN ELYS RELIANCES Exploits and Pedigree of the Winner of the New market Stakes and Prince of Wales Stakes Dominion is not tlie best threeyearold in Eng ¬ land tint lie is right up in the front rank and one of the numerous good racers credited to his sire Polymelus of which we have had several specimens in our own racing As a twoyearold he won two races of moderate value but it was his exasperating bad luck to finish second or third in the big stake races He was third to Bruff Bridge and Monte Faro in the New Coventry Stakes third to Rizzio and Bruff Bridge in the Exeter Stakes ran Buchnn to a head in the Chesterfield Stakes and was third to Stefan the Great and Knight of Blyth in the famous Middle Park Vlate This year his first race was for the Craven Stakes at the Newmarket Craven meeting for which he ran third to Buchan and Bruff Bridge Then he was a close up third to The Panther and Buchan in the Two Thousand Guineas Unplaced in the Stewards Handicap at Keinpton Park he made amends in his next nice by defeating Old Bill Lord Basil Bruff Bridge and Wellingford In the valuable Newmarket Stakes worth 10250 to the winner He was unplaced jn the Derby but had better luck at Ascot when lie won the 7000 Prince of Wales Stakes from Splen ¬ did Spur Coriolanus and Avatar That race was at a mile and fiveeighths and showed him to ba u stayer His excellent pedigree is
