WELCOME BIT OF RACING AT MONTREAL Bryngar Wins Provincial Nursery and The Lost Bird the Kings Plate. MONTREAL, Que., September 1. Not earing to break a series of racing in the record of the Kings Plate and the Provincial Nursery, the Montreal Jockey Club gave a days outing "at the Blue Bon-"hets course this afternoon with an open air horse show and the renewal of the Plate and Nursery. Showing that the local public is anxious for the return of the sport in Canada over 4,000 journeyed to the track to witness, the two races. There were some distinguished visitors in attendance, coming from other cities. J. K. L. Ross made a special trip from New York to witness the wfnriiiig of the Nursery, in which he sent the odds-on choice Bryn-gar and Aconi to the post as an entry. Bryngar had shown she could run in a race at Saratoga and won in a canter under a good ride by John Loftus. She took the lead at once and was pulling up at the finish The victory was peculiar, it being the first timt that one of Mr. Ross own breeding ever carried his colors in a Canadian race. Bryngar was brought from Saratoga by F. J. Stevens, who took her right back to Now York after the race. The winning of the Kings Tlatc furnished a surprise when The Lost Bird turned up as the winner. She was backed Mown from 0 to 1 to 2 to 1 and won in a hard drive. Maladroit tired after challenging the pacemakers on the backstretch. St. Hilaire was raced into exhaustion iu making the
