PETE It PIPEU set a fast early pace and tiuished gamely, but could HGt withstand the winners challenge. FHFIT CAKK was a prominent contender all the way, held on gamely and outstayed AlDACIOlS in the final drive. The latter was shutilcd back in the llrst sixteentli and slipped through on the inside in the stretch and finished fast. OLD ItOSKBID tired in the closing strides. ROBIN GOODFELLOW was saved behind tiie leader under steady restraint for a mile and a half, then gradually wore DELAAVARE down in the last quarter and drew away into an easy lead at the finish. DELAAVARE showed the most speed and was unruly in the early running, hut held on gamely when challenged. DECISIVE fenced poorly and appeared to sulk when punished. Scratched 427S2Gold -Bond. 140. HOMELY began slowly, but gained steadily on the inside and was going fastest of the leaders at the end. MISS JEMIMA, away fast, showed the most early speed in the early running., hut swerved badly in the stretch and tired in the last sixteentli. SCO ARMINT lacked speed. AALOR showed great speed and made the pace fast, but could not withstand the winners challenge. ClDGEL. closer up than usual in the early running, came extremely wide when entering the stretch and finished fastest of the leaders through the last eighth. The hitter lacked early speed, but slipped through on the inside in tlip last half and, gaining steadily, made a game challenge in the last eighth, but tired in the final drive. JIM DINNEY ran a good race and easily disposed of the tiring FAAOLR. The latter lost ground after goinc three-quarters in the lead. JOHN I. DAY finished resolutely. DAAID HARUM gradually improved his position from a slow beginning, responded gamely when put under punishment and outstayed SEA MINT in the closing strides. SEA MINT displayed excellent speed in paeemaking and swerved repeatedly in the last duarter, hut held on gamely. SIMPLETON, slightly troubled by SEA MINT at the eighth post, finished fast and gamely when clear. PILGRIM, clear if interference on the outside, tired in the final drive.
