HOLDS SEASONS TUNA RECORD AVALON, Cal., September 3. A. W. Hooper- of Boston has landed so far this season ninety-five tuna, all in accordance Avith the rules of the Tuna Club. Mr. Hooper would have landed the record tuna of this season or of any season since 1911 if he had brought to the boat unaided a tuna of lOOC- pounds, his latest catch. Mr. Hooper fought his fish so des- perately for an hour that lie became fatigued and Avas unable to continue the fighting, and so. he turned the rod over to his boatman, Capt. Tad Gray, for a time and thus AA-as disqualified. Mr. Hooper took the record tuna of the 191G season, a fish of 109 pounds, with heaA-y tackle, and in 1914 caught the record tuna, a fish of CO pounds, on light tackle.
