DEATH OF OLD HORSE LAND LEAGUE Bather a notable English race horse. Lund League, died last mouth at Lord Dunravens Side Hill Stud, Newmarket. He was by Desmond Combine, by Carbine, and sixteen years old. He was always owned by Capt. Jack Homfray, who bought him as i yearling for 225. In his day Land League won about 32.000, his best achievement being when he won the Cambridgeshire of 1007, carrying 111 pounds, in the hands of AV. Higgs. a neck from George Fa-bers Malua, 120 pounds I. Maher. Land League retired to the stud in 1911, and has sired quite a fair number of winners, none of which, however, has- accomplished anything of note.
