RECORD PRICE FOR FRENCH YEARLING The record price for a yearling in Franco was left far bchin.i when on Sunday, August 10, Mr. Zdmund Blanc gave at the Etjblissoment Cheri ale 25,070 for the chestnut colt Ksar, by Bruleur Kizil Kourgan, by Omnium II. Kizil Kourgan. which died last May, was born in 1899 and had a remarkably successful career on the race course, securing for Mr. E. de Saint-Alary the French One Thousand Guineas, the Oaks and the Grand Prix de Pari-;. Her sire and dam were both great winners. Omnium II. securing the French Derby and the Prix du Conseil Municipal twice, while her dam, Aasbah, a direct descendant of Pocahontas, took ;he French Oaks. Kizil Kourgan retired to the ftud in 1003, and proved a regular breeder, among tin best of her produce being Kcnilworth, by Child-wick, a good stayer and sire in Australia, where he changed hands at auction last September for 4, Hit guineas, while among his progeny is AVolaroi, winner of the Victoria Bacing Club Derby in 1010. Khedive III. is also a sou of Kizil Kourgan. Mr. Blanc has thus two remarkable records to his credit, for it was he who gave 37,500 guineas, the record price for a horse at public auction, for Flying Fox when the late Duke of AVcstminsters horses came up for sale at Kingsclere on Thursday, Mur-h S, 1000. The present colt is described as a magnificent yearling, muiI --certainly he could not claim higher lineage, for in addition to his dam, Bruleur, his sire also secured the Grand Prix de Paris. The previous record for a French yearling was 20.000, paid in 1012 by J. E. Widcner for Mont d Or, by Aal dOr, which is now in the stud in Kentucky.
