PURCHASE GOES LAME DURING WORK LAUREL, Md., October 10. S. C. Hildreths crack three-year-old Purchase fell lame yesterday while being galloped a mile with Fator up. Purchase had gone three-quarters when he began to prop and his rider immediately pulled him up. The colt was quite lame when led back to the stable. Hildreth discovered that the lameness was in the ankle and this morning the leg was badly swollen. It is not at all likely that Purchase will race again this year.
