The feature wpnt to Kingfisher after a sharp drive to dispose of .Lindeii. with Matinee Idol third. It was the betters first defeat in these parts, and he showed inability to run freely over the crumbling footing. Blue Paradise upset a well planned coup when she landed in advance of Korbly. The latter was backed with rare confidence, but could do no better than land in second place. Valley Park Maids defeat was another hard jolt of the afternoon, and Waterfords victory in the sixth race wns a distinct surprise. Jockey Lunsford, whose riding for some time has been decidedly amateurish, took a brace today and landed three of his mounts winners, and also piloted a second horse. He inaugurated his successes astride Pullux in the opener, and followed it with a victory on Warlike. He had to ride tin; latter to the limit to get up in time to defeat Anticipate. He saved much ground on the turns on Wuterford. his other successful mount, and it was due to tills that he landed the purse. There was a bad mixup on the first turn of the sixth race, for which jockey D. Connelly was held to. blame, and the stewards suspended him for tho remainder of the meeting. This- marks- Connellys third offense and punishment this year on Kentucky tracks. Victor Munoz, the well-known Havana spdrt writer, was among todays visitors. He predicted that Havana would have a brilliant season of racing next winter. Prior to the racing this afternoon the stewards had a session with owner Miller Henderson, and at its conclusion they gave out the following: "Miller Henderson, owner and trainer, having made several public and intemierate criticisms of the placing judges, the handicappers and other officials of the course, was notified by the stewards that further unwarranted and noisy demonstrations of a similar nature would result in a suspension of his license." . O. D. Bryan, .Tr., and Fred Middleton, two of the most interested stockholders in the Jefferson Park track, were among the arrivals this afternoon. J. B. Campbell, who will serve as one of the judges at the Fair Grounds, and also officiate at the Jefferson Park track, was also a newcomer. According to Mr. Bryan. Francis Nelson will be one of the stewards at the Jefferson track. Announcement of the Jefferson Park purse program for next winter may be made tomorrow. Vulcanites absence from the Latonia Championship Stakes tomorrow is due to his having gone amiss and he will probably not be raced again this season. AH the directors of the Kentucky Jockey Club will be here to witness the big race tomorrow. The members of the Kentucky State Racing Commission will also be on hand. The gold cup, costing ,150. donated by six of the directors of the Thoroughbred Horse Association, is now on exhibition and will be presented to the winning owner, probably by Governor James D. Black, of Kentucky, or some other notable person. J. "S. Wallace is soliciting horses for the Havana track and is eminently successful in enrolling owners to ship to the Cuban course. Larry Waterbury and other noted horsemen will reach here tomorrow from New York. They are making tte trip to witness the race for the Latonia Championship Stakes.
