CURRENT NOTES OF THE TURF Robert A. Fairbairn has been elected to succeed James McLean as president of the National Horse Show, the latter resigning because of ill health. Laws is said t,o have sold a car to bet on Scotch Verdict, which cost him ,000. G. H. Morton trained the colt and Duggiin, William Walkers tJpprenticc; rode liim to win by ten lengths and all the way. Duggari got S000 for his ride. In addition to his natural speed Scotch Verdict was probably stimulated - for the race. Scotch Verdict had run fifteen races this season, winning his first and last.
