The two powerful racihg establishments of Commander J. K. L. Ross and S. C. Hildreth will clash again tomorrow at Pimlico for one of the big prizes of the fall meeting of the Maryland Jockey Club. The Bowie Handicap of 0,000 added, at one mile and a half, is the valuable event that brings together the stars of these two stables. Commander Ross has named Cudgel and Boniface to represent him, while Sam Hildreth will depend upon Mad Hatter and Corn Tassel. It will in all probability be Cudgel and Mad Hatter that will fight it out for tlie "two leading stables of the year. Cudgel will have to be at his best, as Mad Hatter lias only 113 pounds to shoulder to 131 on the Ross star. Mad Hatter has givin convincing evidence that he is a superb long distance racer, his easy victories in tlie Latonia Championship Stakes and Pimlico Autumn Handicap attesting to that fact in no uncertain terms. Cudgels ability is Avell known and, although he has not been as successful in this years racing as in previous years, nevertheless he can always be depended upon to do Ids best under the most trying conditions, heavy weights and long distances holding no terrors for tlie game and stouthearted son" of Broomstick Eugenia Burch. However, it is no certain tiling that the winner of th6 Bowie Handicap will come from either of the above-mentioned Stables, for Exterminator, one of the best handicap horses seen in this country in a number of years, is also a sure starter in tomorrows big race and will be found fighting every yard xif tlie mile and a half, with the Ross: and Hildreth representatives. .Exterminator has raced east "and west under all sorts of conditions, always with big weight up, and lias never failed to give a good account of himself. The weather forecasts on the eve of the race are for a clear, bright day, which will assure a fast track and a record-breaking crowd to witness it. The remainder of Saturdays program is inviting, witli tlie Green Spring Valley Steeplechase as the attraction for the devotees of that fascinating branch of the sport, while the Southern Handicap at one mile and a sixteenth is tlie secondary feature of the racing on the flat. A fine band of jumpers are carded to start in tlie steeplechase and, although tlie field is small in the Southern Handicap, tlie probable contenders are fast and true racers, assuring a struggle worth seeing.
