GENERAL NEWS NOTES OF THE DAY CHICAGO, 111., November 7. Weather forecast: Illinois Cloudy tonight and Saturday; probably rain Saturday; not much change in temperature. Missouri Probably rain tonight and Saturday; warmer in west portion tonight. General forecast: The disturbance in the Ohio Valley will pass away, while the one in the west will move eastward accompanied by general precipitation over western and middle western states during the next twenty-four hours; the temperature changes will not be marked. WASHINGTON, D. C, November 7. The government will continue its injunction proceedings against the leaders of the coal, strike. President Wilsons cabinet made this decision today after considering the protests which organized labor has made against thfe proceedings. Secretary of State Lansing on leaving the cabinet meeting announced that the cabinet had decided to continue its injunction proceedings. Secretary of Labor Wilson refused to state whether he had argued against the injunction proceedings or asked to have them vacated. He stated, however, that lie had not presented a plea from Samuel Gompers to the cabinet. WASHINGTON, D. C, November 7. The first clause of the treaty -reservations as prepared by. the foreign relations committee of the Senate, requiring that three of, the other great powers should recognize the reservations, was adopted by the Senate this afternoon. The vote was 48 to 40. An amendment by Senator King dem. of Utah, to make it possible for a foreign power to accept the reservations merely "by recognizing the United States as a party to the treaty," was rejected, 40 to 42. WASHINGTON, D. C, November 7. President Wilson today told Senator Hitchcock of Nebraska, administration leader in the Senate treaty fight, that he would be entirely satisfied with any reservations supporters of the treaty might feel justified In accepting, provided they did not nullify the league of nations covenant and -were designed for the purpose of interpreting the terms of the treaty. . NEW YORK, N. Y., November 7. Another of New Yorks older hotels yielded to the encroachments of business on Fifth avenue when the Holland House, for thirty years regarded as one of the. leading hotels of the city, was sold for a sum in the neighborhood of ,000,000. The name of the new owner was not revealed, but it is stated definitely that the building would "soon be used for commercial purposes"." WASHINGTON, D. C. November 7. Senator nitchcock of Nebraska, the administration leader in the treaty fight in the senate, went to the White House today to discuss the question of treaty reservations with President Wilson. This was the first personal conference the President has had witli any senator since illness compelled him to abandon his western tour in the interest of the treaty. INDIANAPOLIS, Ind., November 7. Fire, attacked a garage owned by the Automobile and Repair Company at 2111-17 West Lake streef early this morning.
