Sir Barton set a fast pace all tlie way and ran tlie mile in 1:40, a splendid effort,, considering the track was not at its best. In his previous race on Wednesday Sir Barton was beaten off by Mad Hatter and Bridesman. Hey was ridden by Loftus on that occasion. "Today there was a change in riders, Kummer having tlie mount. Tlie mile and a quarter dash that . closed tlie days racing proved easy for R. T. Wilsons Thistle-don. TROUBLE OVER COLT AN2AC. After Ral Parr claimed the two-year-old Anzac from G. W. Forman yesterday a complaint was lodged witli the stewards that the colt had run in heavy plates and lead pads. Forman was sent for and insisted that the colt be brought back into the paddock and his plates removed and the pads lie wore examined. It was found, that while the plates were a bit heavier than those usually worn they had been placed on the colts feet witli a light pad lined with oakum in order to protect them from a bad case of thrush which had eaten away part of tlie frog. The matter was taken under advisement by tlie officials and Forman was absolved from any evil inten.. Forman claimed the colt from Mr. Parr a few days back and this probably accounted for the ill feeling in the matter. Stuart Polk, who suffered a broken leg as. a result of a fall while astride a fractious "horse during the Havre de Grace meeting, had another accident yesterday. The -jumper Lewis Oppcr, which had. unseated his rider in tlie steeplechase, bolted through the paddock and, knocking Polk down, broke his nose in two places. ... The long season, which is rapidly drawing to a close, has evidently got on tlie nerves of some of tlie horsemen. There was quite a bit of excitement in the paddock yesterday as a result of several challenges whieli Were issued by some of these excited individuals. Fortunately the better judgment of some of the cooler heads prevailed and no damage The victory of "Star Court at Pimlico Wednesday was the fourth straight win for W. R. Coes good Star Shoot colt, which seems to be improving with each succeeding race, was done. Commander J. K. L. Ross claimed his own filly, Faisan Dore, for ,305. A.
