R0YCE R00LS SORE HORSE SATURDAY BALTIMORE, Md., .November 11. Royce Rools, winner of the Bowie Handicap at Pimlico Saturday, was so stiff and sore whlje walking in the. paddock before the race that many visitors to that inclosure who had contemplated betting on him changed their views as to the probable winner. and backed another horse. He could scarcely place one foot in front o him, and he walked like a youug miss with tight shoes. His stride was short and choppy in the parade and on the way to the post. But the gallop over to the half mile post warmed up his stiff and sore shoulders and he moved with better freedom as he neared the barrier. The slow early pace aided him materially, and when the real racing began all signs of soreness had disappeared and he fairly flew after the leaders, and overtaking the heavily weighed Cudgel easily disposed of him and drew away into a safe lead.
