BOWIE MEETING A HUGE SUCCESS OVER 00,000 DISTRIBUTED AMONG THE WINNING OWNERS OPHELIA S RACING AN OUTSTANDING FEATURE The fall meeting of the Southern Maryland Agricultural Association that began at Bowie November 14 and continued to November 29, bringing to a close the Maryland racing season of 1919, was the most successful in every respect in the brief history of that organization. There were fourteen days of racing, during which time ninety-eight races were rim and 11,151 distributed among the winning horsemen. The daily average distribution amounted to ,975, which is a remarkable showing considering that no stake lixtnres adorned the program and all that money was given in overnight purses. The racing was the best ever seen at Prince George Park, due to the presence of more horses of a better class than ever before took .part in the sport at Bowie. One of the distinctive features of the meeting was the splendid performances of the Miles Ophelia and Ormonda, particularly the tirst mentioned. The general attendance and volume of speculaton broke all previous records. Mrs. J. K. Davis tops the list of money-winning owners, closely followed by IL A. Smith with J . J . llnllenlieck in third- place. The following are the qwners with 00 or more to their credit: Owner. 1st. 2d. 3d. Amt. Davis, Mrs. J. K 5 1 0 $ 5,355 Smith. It. A 5 2 1 5,103 Hallenbeck, J.
