George Clark and Adelante weru achieved.. His margin with Hetsy was only by n head after a hard drive to outstays. Bagpipe and Sentimental. Witii George Clark he managed to head . Younecd only in the Inst few strides, a poor sendoff and the lame condition of his. mount making his work on this one somewhat tf a herculean task to bind him home in front. With AUelahte he had to drive hard for the entire lengtU of the- stretch and triumphed only in the final strides, outfinlsliing the veterans Hutwell and Howard, respectively astride Little Cottage and Marasmus. The improved form shown by Little Cottage was marked. Favorite backers began auspiciously, but their windup was attended with disaster, as Mountain Itose II. and Marasmus brought about their undoing. They began auspiciously when Howard Dots, Day of Peace led home a band of maiden tworyear-.tiltl. but received a setback with Bagpipes defeat ill th! second race. .las. T. Clark had the call in the third race and he succeeded in binding his first purse .in many mouths when he won, from Scarpia II. and Safranor. Koh-i-Noor continued the good work of the choices when she led thirteen others to the finish, gUideil by Ponce, a new beginner. George Clarks success, also helped the Short-price backers and they might have gotten by in the .sixth m race with Mountain Itose II. but for; Mooneys blunder in rushing him into exhaustion lif the early miming and leaving him with nothing in reserve when Toddler challenged to ultimately beat him home by a head.
