J. E. MADDEN TO HOLD BIG SALE JAN. 22 LEXIXGTOX, Ky., December 11. John E. Madden today announced that on January 22 lle will sell at Hamburg Place one hundred brood mares and twenty-five yearlings. Madden for some time has been closing out as a public breeder in order, he said, that he may give his entire attention to racing. James T. Looney, well-known horseman of this city, is seriously ill of typhoid penumonia. Allen B. Gallagher of the firm of the Gallagher Brothers returned yesterday from Stafford Springs. Mississippi, where he has been for the benefit of his health. GeorgV II. Strate left here this afternoon for California with a carload of thoroughbreds belonging to John II. Rosseter, owner of Wikiup Ranclio. The shipment included several mares, the proiierty ot W. R. Coe, to be bred to Friar Rock.
