WEIGHTS FOR NEW YEARS HANDICAP NEW ORLEANS. La., December 29. Racing secretary Joseph.. McLennan today announced the weights for the thirty-two horses entered in the New Year Handicap of ,000 added, which will, feature the opening days card at the Fair Grounds. He has given W. K. Applegates Jack Hare Jr: the post of honor with 127 pounds. At first glance this seems a sort of steadying impost for the brown whirlwind, .but trainer John C. Ferriss, Jr., seems eminently satisfied and, barring an accident. Jack Hare Jr. will make his New Orleans debut in the race.
