PROSPECTS OF THE MARYLAND CIRCUT CIRCUTAvailable Available Horses Plentiful for the Coming Bowie Havre do Grace and Pimlico Meetings BALTIMORE Md March 27 The Southern Maryland Agricultural Association will inaugural t Prince George Park Bowie on The day race meeting that is to be of thirteen days dura tion which will be marked by the distribution amo the owners of thoroughbred race horses of aboil 100000 and a sining season of racing in Marylam that will be charactcried by the distribution of gross sum of about 433000 For the Southern Maryland meeting will be followed by a fortnights meeting at Havre de Grace in the course of which 140000 will be distributed and the Maryland lotkey Club will add a matter of 1I300 to the stakes and overnight races that will be run at Pimlico between May J and 17 The Southern Maryland meeting will be the first of the year of The lotkey Clubs circuit Because of the rigorous winter and backward spring which has retarded the training of thoroughbreds in the north and east the Southern Maryland Agricultural Associa ¬ tion has not closed any stakes anil the Harford Agricultural and Breeders Association has closed only four of 010 each The Maryland Jockey Club however offers the S2 S2iOUO iOUO Preakuess fo threeyearolds and r0lt added races that promise to be highly attractive in the Green Spring Valley Steeplechase Maryland Oaks mil Pimlico Spring Handicap along with a couple of 2500 twoyear old specials that will bring to the post some speedy youngsters youngstersThe The purses at Bowie and Havre dc Grace will be generous Bowies overnight races will range in value from 1011 to 150 and Havre de Graces from 1200 to 20 Nor will these early meet ¬ ings be as badly off for highclass racing material wherewith to fill these specials is was feared some three or four weeks back There has been little or no frost iu the ground since the first of March and much useful work has been accomplished by trainers who have been working their charges over the Bowie Pimlico Rennlng Laurel and Havre de Grace courses coursesThe The eastern campaigners have been reenforced already by hundreds of seasoned horses that have ctne nil liom New Orleans where they were racing through the winter at the Fair Grounds and Jef ¬ ferson Park and another caravan will presently be on its way from Havana HavanaSecretary Secretary Joseph McLennan has cut according to his cloth in making up the Bowie program and knowing his material he has arranged races that promise interesting sport Probably the best per ¬ formers that have come up from the South to par ¬ ticipate in the Bowie meeting are in the stables of Harry Payne Whitney Aimer Clopton Robert A Smith G W Formau lames Arthur G W At ¬ kinson Clarence Buxton 1 V Bean 1 J Fahey Andrew G Blakeley Harvey Boyle Frank Bray T E Crist T 1 Carroll C F Clark L H Loiichcim Henry Fallehey Clyde M Freeman Charles Gasscr Frank Harold 1 F Richardson W M Ryan David Shaw William Slieedy Thomas E Wilson G R Bryson I K Chapman and T E Francis Mr Bean will bring over from Washing ¬ ton some horses that wintered in the North and other stables of these parts that will contribute to the success of the meetings ire those of Samuel Ross Henry A Porter 1 Edwin Griffith Elmer Tritsaii J S Tyree William Jennings Captain Joseph E Davis Edward Russell Thomas C C Smitlison John Lumsden Richard F Carman Wil ¬ liam P Bnrch and William Brooks There are up ¬ ward of 000 horses quartered at Bowie and nearly as many more stabled within quick train runs of Bowie
