10 The first meet ¬ ing of the Niagara Racing Association closed this afternoon with the running of an attractive card and the largest crowd in the history of the course attending On an average the fields were larger than in the previous days of the meeting A fast track under sunny skies developed seme excellent racing Interest was divided between the fourth and fifth races the former the Great Lakes Han ¬ dicap at a mile and seventy yards bringing out the best handicap horses here while the Buffalo Handicap at threequarters of a mile was con ¬ tested by a large speedy and wellbalanced field fieldLongpriced Longpriced winners figured prominently in to ¬ days results Marjorie Hynes at long odds ac ¬ counted for the sprinting feature of the day in easy fashion but was fortunate in having the strongest contenders carried wide in the stretch Jilarjcrie Ilynes set the pace from the start and turned into the stretch with a comfortable lead with King Herod George Starr and His Choice right in line and all apparently ready for a charge on the leader when Simpson on King Herod car ¬ ried the others wide and put them out of the run ¬ ning Mayor House and St Queutin slipped through the opening thus made and divided the remainder of tiie purse between them themClean Clean tione supplied the upset in the longdis ¬ tance feature Coming from behind after being confidently rated behind a killing pace through tie first half mile the J Farrell color bearer wore down Dr Joe in the last sixteenth and won by a neck from the latter Midnight Sun saved third money Clean Gone equaled the track record of 142 for a mile and 70 yards established by Lovetie The time in the sprint feature also was excellent being but threefifths of a second slower than the 111 made by Leochares LeocharesThe The
