The latter met with interference in the early running and, closing up fast when clear, would have won in another stride. The latter displayed excellent speed and fenced in easy fashion from the start, then held on gamely at the end. SURF, under a stout pull in the early running, tired badly. BALLET DANCER ll. saved much ground on the turns, but tired in the stretch. NATURAL BRIDGE ran poorly. MINT CAT was kicked at the post, then began slowly and was not persevered with. CAREPUL, away forwardly, raced BELIEAE IDLE HOUR into early defeat and took a long lead after entering the homestretch, but tired badly under her weight and just lasted to win. NANCY LEE began slowly, but gradually improved her position and finished with a belated rush through the last eighth. CHARITY fell back at the start and ran green for the first half mile, but finished with a rush and passed BELIEVE IDLE HOUR in the closing strides. The latter was fractious at the post, galloped off three-eighths before the start, then displayed much speed, but tired. PANTALETTE run poorly. CIMARRON was ridden out at the finish. ROUND ROBIN moved up steadily in the stretch, but was in tight quarters to the last eighth, then finished gamely, when clear. MATINEE IDOL was si milled back early, but closed a big gap and easily passed the others in the last eighth. FRANC TIREUR finished gamely. MOSE was weakly ridden. NOLAAVN quit in the last quarter. CRANK saved ground 1 when entering the stretch, but was in close quarters in the last sixteenth and his rider was compelled 1 to ease him up in the closing strides.
