CONNAUGHT PARK RACING ! Auspicious Opening of Final Meeting of the Year at Ottawa. Flibbertygibbet and The Boy Carry Off Principal Races of Inaugural Program. OTTAWA, Ontario, August 31. The second and final meeting of the Connaught Park Jockey Club for the year 1020 opened here today under auspicious weather and track conditions and witli a large! crovfd in attendance. The lightly weighted Flibbertygibbet, from the stable of C. I. Wilson, won the Queen City Purse, the feature race of the inaugural day program. Kings Champion finished second and Biddledee third. The winner, following closely behind Biddledee, the pacemaker, to the far turn, assumed the lead when the latter began tiring and held sway for the remainder of the mile Journey after withstanding a challenge from Kings Champion just after the field straightened out for the run home. Uoinanelli rode the winner. F. A. Goss four-year-old Celt Sand Dune colt, liTe Boy, scored his first victory since being thrown out of training at New Orleans last winter, finishing in front of Sedan and Vive McGee in the Autumn Purse, the secondary attraction on the card. Timber toppers were presented for the approval of Canadian rnecgoers for the first time today since the close of the last meeting at this track and the crowd was provided with a pretty race that furnished plenty of thrills. Algardi was remounted after losing his rider and finished in time to secure the third portion of the purse. Rhomb fell at the ninth Jump and jockey X. Fricker, who fell from Decathlon at the. twelfth fence, sustained a cut tongue and C. Wright, mispated from Algardi. escaped with a slinking up. True to its promise of a week ago, officials of the Connaught Park Jockey Clnb are waging war on touts. All voluntary advisers who could be found about tlie grounds today were evicted. Biddledee, which ran in the colors of B. Mclll-murray in the fifth race was claimed from J. L. Paul on the last day at Windsor. Jockey B. Marianaili, who has been riding at Montreal, will not be allowed to accept mounts here, it was announced by the stewards today, because of having been posted in The Jockey Club Calendar as having left J. S. Hcaly, his contract employer, without permission, AV. Oliver has turned over jockey Xorman Collins to K. U. McKenzie of Pittsburgh. The McKenzie stable is chartered at Devonshire.
