FAMOUS FRENCH TRAINER IS DEAD James dOkliuysen, Baron Maurice de Rothschilds trainer, who had been ill at Deuville for the past two months, died on Sunday, August 15. Born at Iliiarlem Holland fifty-two years ago, he had a varied career as athlete, cyclist, veterinarian and signing reixirter. In li-Oli he commenced training thoroughbreds at Mnisons-Laf itte and he had subsequently under his care horses belonging to Messrs. Cantor and Michel Ephnissi. For the last named, in 1905. lie won both the Prix du Jockey Clnb and Grand Prix with Finasseur. It was in 1909 that lie was engaged as private trainer by Bnron Maurice de Rothschild and that his run of hlg successes began, as in that year Verdun secured the Grand Prix and the Prix du President de la Itepubllque. and in 1911 Sardanapale not only was successful in the Prix du Jockey Club and the Prix du President de la Itepublique, but iu ic Grand Prix.
