TULLAMORE WINS DEAUVILLE Brandy King Hennessys English-Bred Filly Takes Big French Race Racing Gossip from the Other Side. PARIS, France, August 16. Sunday was the big racing day at Deauville, the fashionable French watering place. That day tho Deauville Grand Prize was run. The race was better known some quarter of a century ago as the Deauville Cup. Since 1873, when it was won by the late Duke of Hamilton with Sir John, it lias maintained its vo.Tue as an international event, and is regarded with much interest on both sides of the channel, and since the commencement of the meeting the keenest interest has been taken in the race, although the wagering which used to take place in the Casino has been killed by the introduction of the totalizator as the only medium for turf speculation. James Ilonnessy, the brandy magnate, won the Grand Prize with his English-bred filly Tiillamore, a 4.Y2 to 1 second choice to Juveignenr, whie ivas second. At .the first turn, Imnginaire.. led Paragon next. At the turn for home Paragon took second place, but gave way to Imaginaire and Caroly. Into the straight Tullamore took the lead, and won by a short head and two lengths from Juveignenr and Caroly. Time, 2:48. Grand Prix rtay was a field day for the Ilennessy colors. Jennings, who rides ths stables horses, won three races the Grand Prix de Deauville, Prix de Saint Arnold, and Prix des Reservoirs, the latter two on Sea Hound and Bermuda. AMERICAN JOCKEYS PROMINENT. American jockeys cut a figure in the racing. M. McGee rode in six races and won three, and F. OXeill rode two winners. The Vandcrbilt horses were first in two races, and the Macombcr colors scored when Little Comrade Garner won the Prix du Havre. An objection was lodged against Glorious, which finished first for the Prix Guillaume le Conque-rant at Deauville the day before the Grand Prix was run, which provert fatal. Lacrosse bein; promoted to first place, while Milton Henry, the American jockey, was ordered to stand down for the rest of the meeting for having "deliberately deviated from his own line at the finish, thus interfering with Lacrosse." As was anticipated, the objection to the horses of the late W. K. Vanderbilt running in the name of Rutgers Le Roy has been officially overruled by the Societe dEncouragement. Young Frank OXeill, the son of the crack French jockey, gives promise of making a first-class horseman. He rides out at exercise on one of the Vanderbilt stables thoroughbreds almost daily, and recently, on Pergola, lie led some of the racers in .1 fast gallop. McGee rode three winners and two seconds, winning the Prix du Conseil General with Popularity, Mr. J. Arditi; the Prix de 1Odon with Leine des Creuies.
