LAST DAY AT CONNAUGHT Resarf and Hindoostan Score in Principal Races of Getaway Card Rain Slows Track. OTTAWA. Ontario. September 7. The Connaught Park Jockey Club closed a successful meeting this afternoon. Rain slowed the track and kept the attendance down. However, there was a goodly gathering oh hand when tlie horses were called to the post in tlie initial race, the Ottawa Hopeful Purse for two-year-old maidens foaled in Canada. Resarf, carrying the colors of the Brookdale stable and ably ridden by jockey Butwell, accounted for this race, easily itolding safe Blarney Boy and Aunt Lin. which finished second and third respectively. Hindoostan, E. T. Zollicof fers good son of Roy Hindoo Gracious Dame, which has been scoring so consistently in sprint races, demonstrated superb staying power in winning from tlie shiftiest band brought together this afternoon. Jockey Thurbcr set tlie pace with Hindoostan aud piloted him home first in front of Broom Peddler aud Sans Bear J I. Algardi was best in the second race through the field, showing the way to the favorite, Smithfield,. from start to finish. . Dan Lehnn provided the surprise of the day when his filly, Mary Cowell, at long odds romped home an easy winner in the third race. A meeting of the Canadian Racing Associations stewards is scheduled to be held at Blue Bonnets. It is planned to make final settlement of the Little Rov ringing incident at that time. Tlie horses of C. I. Wilson, C. E. rhillips, R. Tullett and W. Oliver were shiped to -Montreal last night. Practically all the other horses that have lieen racing here will follow to that point tonight. Jockey C. Hunt will accompany the Phillips stable to Blue Bonnets. Hunt recently returned to the saddle and lias shown good form at tbis meeting. O. J. Raker ships G. .M. Miller and Bloomington, both the property of A. Thomas, to Havre de 5 race. Mose Williams Far East struck himself in a workout yesterday and developed lameness that necessitated his being scratched today. Vive McGeo was withdrawn in tlie fiftli race cn account of the change in track conditions. The mare has raced quite a bit lately and incidentally she is also developing an osslet. Many improvements have been mapped out which will be made at Connaught Park under the personal supervision of Mr. McAuliffe, one of the members of the managing committee of tlie club. An extension will be added to the mutuels building which will bring it up to tlie upper end of the grandstand and the club members inclosure at the lower did of the stand will be increased about twenty-five feet. Tiie Bowie system of speculation wilt probably Iw in vogue at Connaught Park next year, and the board which will show tlie equivalent odds will be placed in the infield directly in front of the grandstand. This lward will be made large enough to warrant it being easily read by those in the grandstand.
